My process of care:
Prenatal Care
Troughout the prenatal period, we will have hour-long appointments held in the comfort of your home. The care included in my comprehensive midwifery package entails:

Monthly appointments where we will collect your medical and birth history, do a physical exam, assess any birth risks, run routine lab work, take urinalysis and vitals, and address any questions or concerns.

In the second trimester, we will continue meeting once per month, during which you will be offered a 20-week anatomy scan ultrasound

In the third trimester, we will begin meeting bi-weekly to continue monitoring baby's growth, position, and wellbeing. I also offer a Gestational Diabetes screening at 28 weeks as well as labwork for anemia and hypertension.

Beginning at 36 weeks, we will have our appointments weekly as we focus on preparing your heart and home for birth.
Birth Care
I approach birth with with compassion, attentiveness, and expertise, following evidence-based protocols for monitoring the well-being of you and your baby, assessing the progress of labor, and providing any recommendations as needed. The birth care inside my comprehensive midwifery package includes:

Going on-call for your labor and birth beginning at 37 weeks and up to 42 weeks of your pregnancy. During this time, you can expect easy and direct communication available 24-7 to answer questions and provide labor assessments and support.

I will plan to join you in your home as you enter the active phase of labor. This is a time where frequent assessment of maternal and fetal vital signs are taken. I will provide guidance in maternal positions, comfort measures, encouragement, and work to keep you grounded as I support you through your natural birth.

Your team includes a birth assistant, trained in CPR, neonatal resuscitation, labor support, and treatment of emergency skills.
Postpartum Care
Your individualized care begins directly after birth and continues to the sixth week of postpartum. The postpartum care inside my comprehensive midwifery package includes:
IMMEDIATELY AFTER BIRTH

Baby to be placed in your arms, skin-to-skin, directly after birth with delayed cord clamping

Assessment of any vaginal tears and reparations if necessary.

Breastfeeding guidance and ongoing support

Comprehensive newborn examination. Including the options of Vitamin K injection, and Erythromycin eye ointment

Treatment of any emergencies, if they arise and assistance and accompaniment to the hospital, if transport is needed.

Access to any medication, use of IV fluids, IV antibiotics, and anti-hemorrhage medications if necessary and given with informed consent

Your immediate postpartum watch is typically complete at about 3-4 hours post birth. You and your baby will be ready to be tucked into bed!
POSTPARTUM VISITS

Visits are scheduled for day one, day three, week one, week two, and week six after birth. Additional appointments are included if necessary!

During these appointments, I will cover routine checks of vital signs, physical and emotional assessments, baby weight checks, and provide breastfeeding guidance.

Nutritional, lifestyle, herbal, homeopathic, and other natural counseling to support your best postpartum period.

Documentation of the birth and filing for the birth certificate

Postpartum lab testing or Pap smears may be performed as indicated or desired.

Additional routine screenings will be offered, including:

CCHD Critical congenital heart disease screening for the newborn by 72 hours postpartum with pulse oximeter

Metabolic newborn screen within 72 hours of birth

Discussion and education on all family planning options including the risks/benefits of each and referral for services if needed.

Referral to other health care professionals, when needed.

My fee for homebirth midwifery care is $6,800. This comprehensive midwifery care package includes all prenatal care, active labor, birth, and immediate postpartum support, as well as routine scheduled postpartum care for both mom and baby for the first 6 weeks.
